Denmark

Inger Jens-Datter Sønberg was the daughter of Jens Andersen Sønberg, a clergyman in Visby and Heltborg from 1648 to 1690. After her father’s death, she lived with her half-brother, the clergyman Villads Olsen Svale, in Vang. Here she wrote Sielens daglige Røg Offer, For Herren optændt, printed in 1700, 1710, and 1737, and one of the period’s modern, devotional books written by women, containing morning and evening prayers for every day of the week and accompanying songs.
