Faroe Islands

Kristjane Schröder was born in Vágur, passed on three folk-songs, and recorded three songs herself. She was the daughter of the clergyman Johan Henrich Schröder, who collected ballads that were published in 1822 in H. C. Lynbye’s Færøiske Qvæder om Sigurd Fofnersbane og hans Æt. She had a shop in Tórshavn selling haberdashery and suchlike and later moved in with V. U. Hammershaimb, who was a rural dean on Nes and recorded ballads. She died there in 1873.
