Maren Markussen

1851 - 1928

Maren Markussen wrote about her home region, grew up in a farming family near Harlev, and attended the folk high school Askov Højskole before she married a free school teacher in 1884.

Her debut novel Hylleborg was published in 1901, which, like her other few works, moves between accounts of ordinary life and texts influenced by Grundtvig’s ideas.
