Kerttu Vuolab grew up in Vuovdaguoika on the Finnish side of the Tana river. Her aim is to pass on the Sami cultural tradition to both children and adults.

In the children’s book Golbma skihpáračča, 1979, the memory and spirit of a dead sister live on. After her children’s book Ande ja Risten Jági farus, 1990, she published the teenage novel Čeppári  čáráhus, 1994. She has illustrated her books herself with paper collages that have also featured in a one-woman exhibition.

The above biography was first published in 1998. Since then, Kerttu Vuolab has written the books Čomisteaddjit, 2005, and Báibmoáirras, 2008, for which she was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2011.
