Swedish writer an politician Marit Paulsen was born in Norway and started working at a factory at just nine years of age. She married at seventeen and had three children. For some time, she and her husband worked shifts at a steel plant.

Her debut novel Du, människa?, 1972, is subtitled “Skarpt nærbillede af en industriarbejderskes liv” (a close-up picture of the life of a woman industrial worker). With its suppressed anger and social commitment, it immediately became a classic among the left wing members of the 1970s’ women’s movement. Marit Paulsen has written many debate books and has been a very active in debates and as a public speaker.

The above biography was first published in 1998. Since then, Marit Paulsen has published books on EU politics and other subjects. She represents the Swedish political party Folkpartiet in the European Parliament.
