Fanny Carita Kristina Nyström was born in Vasa, graduated from university, and has one child. Together with Birgitta Boucht, she introduced feminism to Finland-Swedish literature with her work Denna värld är vår. Handbok i systerskap, 1975. She also co-wrote the epistolary book Postfeminism, 1991.
Her oeuvre includes the poetry collections Ur moderlivet. Dikter om havandeskap och samhälle, 1978, Huset i rymden, 1984, about nature and the life of women; an autobiographical novel about a child evacuee in Sweden, Den förvandlade gatan, 1991; and Återväxt, 1982, a collection of articles, essays, and poems on women’s issues and ecology. She has also worked in adult education and in radio.
