Maja Ekelöf

Maja Ekelöf published the diary novel Rapport från en skurhink in 1970. Up till then she had made a living as a cleaner and raised five children. Rapport från en skurhink, which was published almost concurrently in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, was a landmark work for the 1970s report genre, the aim of which was to  ‘make the personal political’, in other words to place private, confessional writing within the framework of a public documentary to lend it the truthfulness of a critical examination.
