Sophie Frederikke Louise Charlotte Reventlow spent her childhood in prefect’s quarters in Sorø and her youth at Vallø Convent. In 1774 she married Count C. D. Reventlow of Christianssæde and Pederstrup, minister during the Bernstorff period for a number of years.

She reformed children’s education and upbringing and family life, wrote Vore opblomstrende børn about raising children, which was published by Claus Bjørn in 1990, and corresponded with Louise Stolberg and a number of others.
