Alexandra Gripenberg

Alexandra Gripenberg came from an aristocratic family and was the youngest of the three Gripenberg sisters. She was one of Finland’s first internationally known feminists and a member of the first Finnish single-chamber Parliament from 1907 to 1909.

Her debut collection of short stories, entitled Berättelser, was published in 1877 under the pseudonym Ringa. Later, she published works of fiction under the pseudonym Aarne, including Strån. Skizzer af Aarne (SS), 1884, and I tätnande led (N), 1886. Her main work is Reformarbetet till förbättrande af kvinnans ställning 1-3, which was published in 1893.
