Barbro Werkmäster was born in Söderhamn and is an art critic and freelance writer. She is married and has children. Together with Maud Hägg, she published the publication Frihet, jämlikhet, systerskap in 1971. She has written picture books and edited anthologies for children and together with Lena Kåreland published studies on picture books.
In Visst kan tjejer (N), 1973, and Krasch (N), 1975, published jointly with Anna Sjödahl, she communicates the ideas from the women’s rights movement to children. The books illustrate a hypothesis, often using humour, and aim to raise the awareness of children.
