Emilie Lundberg was the daughter of a painter in Stockholm. In 1877 she played a role in her own play Amore ed onore in Milan; she was employed at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm from 1882 to 1883.
She made her literary debut in 1882 with the historical play Frihetsvännerna and also wrote the comedy Förlåt mig, 1886, and the novel Ur tvenne verldar, 1885, which is a period piece depicting a young woman’s choice between love and art.
