Mariaana Jäntti

Mariaana Jäntti has so far only published her avant-garde debut novel Amorfiaana, 1986. As the title suggests, she uses the methods and clichés of modern novels to create a private, absurd, and grotesque world, a narrative amorphousness in which everything is fluid. She examines the body and existence, investigates the boundaries of life and freedom, and criticises petit-bourgeoisie and consensus. Her modernism is a search for new possibilities and political perspectives.
