Marit Hivand

Marit Hivand is of Sami origin. She was born and grew up in the Finnish part of the Tana Valley, was married in Sør Varanger in Norway, is now a widow. Her collection Eallin Bálggis containing long, epic poems inspired by the narrative style of traditional Sami yoik songs was published in 1987.
