Magdalena Beata (Malin) Gyllenkrok

1788 - 1862

Sweden

Magdalena Beata Gyllenkrok devoted her life to charity and social reforms. In 1840, she and her husband Axel Gustaf (Gösta) Gyllenkrok set up an institution to take care of neglected children, the Räddningsinstitutet för gossar, modelled on a German institution, at Råby near Lund in Scania.

In Magdalena Gyllenkrok’s genealogical book, which came into being in 1814-1819, friendship – “La tendre Amitié” – is the most important theme. Among the French and German sentences written by her friends there are passages written in Swedish, which account for one third of the book.
