Maria Furuhjelm

Maria Furuhjelm came from an aristocratic family and was the sister of the writers and reformers Alexandra Gripenberg and Elisabeth Stenius. She wrote for children and made her debut when her stories were published in Pennibibliotek för barn 1-12, 1864-1865. In 1879, she published Skilda väger, a novel for young people that demonstrated her commitment to the new Finnish women’s rights movement.
