Helle Nyberg

1942 -

Denmark

Helle Nyberg trained as a painter and immediately became a poet of the 1980s’ renewal of lyric poetry when her debut collection Jernharpen came out in 1984. Her poems are complex compositions often rooted in different phases of life and with elements of Mediterranean or Italian scenery shaped as ritually coloured sequences and constructions that are reflected and illuminated in unexpected ways, intensely emotional and with implied humour.

Her writing also includes the poetry collection Lille dag, 1987, and the at once wild and beautiful Künstlerroman, Io, 1995.
