Gertrud Johanne Almqvist was the daughter of an agricultural engineer and married journalist and author Erik Brogren from Gothenburg. Her debut work was Genom brottsjöarna i hamn in 1899, published under the pseudonym Molly Molander. Her other works included Ur en själs lif. Efter funna anteckningar, 1902. Gertrud Almqvist also wrote non-fiction: Den svenska kvinnan, 1910.
