Kirk, Ellen

Written by:  Anne Birgitte Richard

Ellen Kirk was a translator, writer, and sister of the writer Hans Kirk, passed her upper secondary school leaving examination in 1921, and travelled in England, France, and Norway. Her debut publication was her travel letters from London, published in 1922. She worked above all as a translator, translating numerous novels, and wrote two herself: her debut novel Med Fjerkost og Kasserolle, 1931, which was a success and was translated into several languages, and Oprør, 1932, her contribution to the debate on motherhood.
