Ellen Einan

1933 - 2013

Norway

Ellen Einan grew up on a farm in Svolvær, worked as a carer for the elderly, is a widow, and has three children.

Inspired by psychography, she developed her own imaginary world. Her mysticism and symbol-laden language makes her one of the most striking authors in Norway today. She caused a sensation as a poet with her debut book Den gode engsøster, 1982, and went on to publish several poetry collections, including Muldsøstre, 1983, Sene rop mellom bronsebergene, 1987, De syv nattstegene, 1992, and Jade for min engel, 1994.
