Anne Strandvad

Anne Strandvad trained at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen in 1977 and made her literary debut in 1980 with the novel I hi about a female academic’s political conflict. She has since published a number of novels with realist depictions of the development of Danish society. For example, Efter festen, 1983, and Hajen, 1992, are collective accounts of village community and the provincial town respectively, whereas Ingen kender dagen, 1989, is a chronicle of Denmark about the period from the 1920s up to the late 1980s. In 1996 she published the novel Smilets land. She has also published a number of children’s books, such as Elskede Mia, 1989, and radio plays.

The above biography was first published in 1998. Since then, Anne Strandvad has published the novels Til stjernerne, 1998, Magnusens teori, 1999, Hvor er svalerne om vinteren?, 2000, and En stor dag, 2002, as well as the short story collection Tre ekstra liv, 2003.
