Wendela Skytte was a female scholar, known outside her country, daughter of the baron and member of Rigsråd, Council of the Realm, Johan Skytte and Maria Jacobsdotter Näf. In 1626, she married Hans Kyle, later High Court judge of Österbotten. Surviving letters bear witness to her erudition, particularly her knowledge of Latin.
