Rinna Frederikke Elisabeth Hauch

Rinna Frederikke Elisabeth Hauch‘s father, who died early, was a recorder in Elsinore, and she grew up with her aunt Henriette Wulff at Petersgård near Kallehave. At the age of seventeen, she married the poet Carsten Hauch, twenty-one years her senior, and had eight children. In the intervals between childbirth, she wrote two novels, published by Carsten Hauch: Tyrolerfamilien, 1840, and her main work Frue Werner, 1844, about female identity being rooted in the symbiosis between mother and daughter. In her elderly years she was a member of Dansk Kvindesamfund (Danish Women’s Society) and the DanishSocial Democrats.
