Anna Filippa Rolf was born in Stockholm, daughter of Doctor of Philosophy Bruno Rolf and Baroness Dagmar Rappe. After graduating, she settled in the USA.

In 1957 she made her debut with the poetry collection Till det synliga followed by Ungdom, 1959, and Omärkligt, 1960. Her last collection Dikter was published in 1963. Her poems are characterised by mastery of form and sensitive musicality, and they revolve around motifs of division, restlessness, and lesbian love outside the mainstream. She translated the Russian-American novelist Vladimir Nabokov into Swedish.
